Treeside Charter School Title 1 Policy
As the parent of a Treeside Charter School student, your involvement in our school and its continued operation is critical. Your time and effort helps create a better educational experience for our students. Your assistance at Treeside demonstrates your commitment to your child’s education and offers a sense of personal pride in knowing that you’ve made a difference.
As well, Treeside teachers thrive on community help and integrate it into their lesson plans. Our administrators benefit from the input and expertise of parent committees in the areas of school management and organization. Therefore, parental commitment must be consistent, judicious, and dependable.
As a Title 1 school, Treeside has a plethora of opportunities for families to help students in need of intensive instruction and experience in the all core subjects. We strongly encourage parents to volunteer during the instructional day. Teachers will inform parents regarding the curriculum used in the school, the forms of assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet. Parents who are interested in serving on one or more of the following committees will have the opportunity to be appointed at the beginning of each school year if there are openings. Land Trust Committee, Parent Guild, and our Board of Trustees.
The responsibilities of the school, parents, and children in increasing student learning and achievement are identified in our Student/Parent/School Compact. When appropriate, our Parent Guild will work to build partnerships with organizations, community outreach centers, businesses and other schools in the community. These partnerships will be formed in order to improve the involvement of the community in the school, through volunteer work or the donation of gifts, and the involvement of the school in the community. Parents will receive timely information on their children’s progress through parent-teacher conferences, periodic progress reports, report cards, and teacher phone calls. Parents may also monitor children’s current grade status through SIS. Parents of children in third through sixth grade will receive a report on their children’s yearly progress on the SAGE Assessment.
The school’s annual report card will also be disseminated through the school website. Parent Teacher Conferences are held two times per year. Conferences are scheduled during the day and in the evening to accommodate parents’ schedules. Spanish translators are provided to facilitate communication between teachers and parents. Parents are encouraged to take the initiative in calling their children’s teachers when they are concerned. They may also call the school office and ask for a conference. Treeside Charter School’s administration, board of trustees, and committees will review our school data, evaluate school progress, and identify annual school improvement goals.
Treeside Charter School’s Title 1 Policy will be revised on the basis of the annual review. All information will be disseminated during our yearly, Back to School Night.
