TEACHER LICENSING
Treeside Charter School employs educators who hold Professional Educator and Associate Educator licenses issued by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Treeside Charter School also employs educators who hold LEA Specific licenses approved by the Treeside Charter School Board. The Treeside Board of Directors issues LEA Specific licenses in accordance with the following policy:
- Educators with LEA Specific licenses must enroll in the Alternate Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (APPEL) provided by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools (UAPCS) as soon as possible.
- Classroom teachers must have at least a Bachelor's degree to qualify for an LEA Specific license. Specialty teachers must have at least a Bachelor's degree or be working toward a Bachelor's degree to qualify for an LEA Specific license.
- During the first year of employment, educators who have an LEA Specific license will complete the following training: Educator Ethics, Classroom Management and Instruction, Basic Special Education Law, and Utah Effective Teaching Standards.
- All Treeside Charter School employees must complete a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
During the 2024-2025 school year, there are two Treeside teachers who have LEA Specific licenses. There are seven teachers who have Associate licenses (Issued by the Utah State Board of Education) and are working toward a Utah Professional Educator license. All other teachers have Professional licenses.
