Hybrid Policy

Treeside Charter School offers a blended learning learning model where students who desire to attend school in a hybrid-learning format may choose to do so with the following three options:

The options for hybrid learning are:

1) Part-time attendance (3-4 days a week) with school peers, with additional curriculum at home 2) Part-time attendance (morning or afternoon attendance) with school peers, with additional curriculum at home.

3) At-home curriculum with required in-school support in a family learning lab available 1-2 days per week and specialties or field trips on Fridays.

Enrollment

Hybrid students will submit an application of enrollment with the general student population at the beginning of the school year. After hybrid students have been accepted into the school based on the current lottery, they will need to fill out an application for the hybrid program, indicating which of the above options they have chosen.

If students would like to apply for the hybrid program after initial registration, parents need to confer with administration.

Attendance

Attendance for hybrid students will be subject to the validated learner policy. Hybrid attendance will be measured in two ways, in-school and online. When a student is attending in-person, attendance will be recorded. When a student is online, attendance will be measured by assignment completion as noted below.

Attendance records are maintained and reviewed by your Educational Specialist every Friday. Attendance is determined by:

1) Number of assignment submissions;

2) Progress toward academic goals;

3) Demonstrated competency;

4) Log in data from learning software or management systems;

5) Virtual conferencing participation

6) Documented performances or experiences

7) Completed student surveys and logs

8) Other evidence that validates student communication with the program or attends in person.

Academic Progress

Hybrid students are required to make the same academic advancement as their full time

in-person peers. In order to facilitate this:

1) Upon entrance into the hybrid program, parents will meet with administration to create

an individual learning plan for success.

2) All hybrid students will be assigned a homeroom teacher. These teachers will provide

assignments and projects through the Seesaw online educational program for students

to complete when they are not attending in-person.

3) Each student will be assigned an educational specialist who will track and grade online

assignment completion, to monitor progress and collaborate with the homeroom

teacher.

4) All students will be required to meet with their assigned educational specialist once per

week.

5) Students who have chosen the at-home curriculum model will be required to attend a

learning lab with their educational specialist a minimum of 2 hours per week.

Parents are required to monitor the attendance of their students in the hybrid program. Timely

communication with the homeroom teacher and the educational specialist is expected in order

to ensure student success.

If students are not making adequate progress, additional in-school learning lab attendance will

be required. If improvement does not occur after intervention, parents will meet with

administration to evaluate their individual learning plan and determine continued participation

in the hybrid program.

IEP and 504 Related Services, Multilingual Learners

Students with disabilities are provided with an IEP and goals to support progress. The

special education teacher will continue to support parents through in-person meetings and

assessments. The IEP team, consisting of parents, teachers, and administration, will

determine if services are provided in-person or via zoom, with a preference for in-person

services which may include speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.

504 students will be provided with a 504 plan. 504 accommodations will be provided

in-person and for online assignments and activities for students in the hybrid program.

Multilingual students will be provided with additional language support services.
